LITTLE ONE

Little one with your inquisitive mind
Always wanting to know
Afraid to ask the questions
So you let the answers go

Who made you so reticent
Holding back from Life
While 30 years have come and gone
You've been a Mother and a Wife

Was it your Mother
With unyielding Yankee reserve
Who failed to instill the confidence
You need and deserve

Was it your Father
With Southern Baptist severity
Who drove home your convictions
of Doubt and Insecurity

Now the tide has turned
You've reclaimed your Self
No more will you tremble
Nor hide on the shelf

They tried to break you
But you have the last laugh
As you step out the door
Onto the sunlit Path

LITTLE BUDDHA

Oh Little Buddha
In my hand
The search for enlightenment
Is hard to understand
There is no path marked clear to see
The way is different for you and me

We search high and we search low
our conscience guides us in the way to go
With a little bit of luck and a little bit of Zen
We'll come full circle once again...

AT ALL

This is me-
Thinking my solitary thoughts,
Dreaming my solitary dreams,
Singing my solitary songs
This is me-
And you don't know me,
You don't know me at all,
At all...

You think, "yes, I know you,
You are..."
And you fill in the blank
I laugh quietly to myself
No, you don't know me at all,
At all...

What you think you know,
Is only what I let you know,
Want you to know,
Expect you to know
But you don't know me at all,
At all...

I am the quiet rain
That falls on a lonely forest
I am the single snowflake
That falls in the deepest hour of midnight
I am the sighing wind
That dances through the prairie grass
I am the elements of Nature-
I walk a solitary road

What do you see
When you look my way-
Maiden, Mother, Crone?
Would I seem the same
With flowers in my hair
sack-cloth and ashes
stars in my eyes?

No, you don't know me at all,
At all
Your perception
Just scratches the surface...
